Debate and Mock Trial
In the past couple years people have been saying that religious displays on government property should be banned to the point where any sign of any type of Christmas decoration including ornaments, trees, even christmas lights, were offending. Many people agree with this issue and many people disagree.
My opinion is that religious displays on government property should not be banned because our nation was first founded on religion, we have a freedom of religion, we live in a free country.
Everyone knows that our country was first founded on religion. All of our founding fathers were christians, this is why we have sayings like “God bless America” and “In God we trust”, even some atheists will admit this.
Also, in our country, we have a freedom of religion. If people in the government want these decorations up then they have that right. You have to remember that the freedom of religion law is for freedom. This law says nothing about our country not being able to support a religion. Our founding fathers made this law so everyone in America can worship who they want, so that the government isn’t forcing one religion on people.
Lastly, we live in a free country. There is a reason we left England to come to America!! It is so that we would not be forced to practice one religion. By having these displays on government property nobody is forcing this religion on anyone. It is just a statement of our founding fathers.
Thank you for listening and I hope you take my three reasons into consideration.
